Bhubaneswar:  Lack of storage facility has hindered the paddy procurement process which led to less procurement this Kharif and Rabi season, Food and Civil supply Minister Pratap Keshari Deb informed the State Assembly on Saturday.
 
“The government had set a taget to procure 35 lakh MT tone paddy while 22 lakh MT tone has been procured so far”, Deb said.
 
Since the FCI is not lifting adequate amount of paady from the state, the process of procurement has become slow. However, the farmers can sell their crops in other states by paying required amont of tax, Deb added.
 
Members urged the Government to take necessary measures for adequate paddy procurement from the farmers.
