'Leopard on prowl' gives sleepless nights to Titlagarh residents

Bolangir: People in the periphery of Badmal and nearby areas under Titlagarh of Bolangir district are spending sleepless nights due to a leopard which has been spotted in the area. The residents are in a state of panic after the leopard was spotted moving around the Titlgarh Ordnance Factory a few days back. Earlier, a video of the animal moving in the area went viral on social media.

Titlagarh Ranger, Jatindriya Nanda also admitted the presence and movement of a leopard in the area and urged people not to panic as adequate steps are being taken to ensure that the animal doesn’t stray into human settlement.

“We are aware of the video which is doing rounds on social media. After verification of its authenticity, we have alerted our staff who are now visiting different villages and urging people to remain alert during night,” said Nanda.

Nanda further stated that usually leopards are spotted near Titlagarh Ordnance Factory. Even though we do not have any concrete data about the exact number of leopards, we are alert and preventive measures are being taken, he added.
