Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle Visits Peacock Valley In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Not many were aware that Asha Bhosle has an inclination towards bird species. During her recent trip to Odisha for an event at a private university, the evergreen singer visited the peacock valley situated in Naraj area of Cuttack.

The 86-year-old veteran singer met the caretaker of the peacock valley Kanhu Charan Behera, and assured him help, whenever he requires. “She had come to attend a programme at a private university. There she came to know about the peacock valley and decided to pay a visit. She praised me for taking care of peacocks and assured to extend any kind of help,” said Kanhu.

After the 1999 super cyclone in Odisha which had led to massive destruction of life and property, many peacocks were spotted near Talagarh area. Later, some locals fed the birds. Kanhu’s grandfather Pannu Behera, famously known as the ‘Peacock Man’, played an instrumental role in the making of the peacock valley.

With passage of time, there was an increase in the number of peacocks in the valley where people gather in huge numbers to get a glimpse of the beautiful creature.
