Cuttack: She was too young to fight her own battle, but was abandoned by her own parents. This is a shocking story of a newborn girl, who was rescued by a group of good Samaritans in the millennium city of Cuttack.

As per reports, the infant wrapped in a cloth was probably abandoned when some passersby rescued her after hearing her cries besides a drain near Sutahat on Tuesday.

Later, the locals rushed the infant, which seems to be underweight, to City hospital. Only after primary treatment, the girl was shifted to Sishu Bhawan where she is now undergoing treatment at SNCU.

“My elder brother saw the baby first and raised an alarm. Later we took her to hospital,” said Ranjan Kumar Behera, rescuer.

Sishu Bhawan Superintendent, Saroj Satpathy informed that,”The newborn baby is premature and weighs only 840grams. We have kept the newborn under close observation and necessary treatment is being provided.”
