In an ugly turn of events, Lecturers and staff of Charampa College in Odisha’s Bhadrak district staged a protest against the Principal, Amarendra Das, alleging serious misconduct. The protest on Sunday saw both male and female faculty members, along with non-teaching staff, coming together to voice their grievances.
The agitating employees accused the principal of misbehaviour, use of abusive and indecent language, and repeatedly humiliating teachers and staff. Holding placards and raising slogans, the protesters demanded immediate action against the college head.
According to the protesters, the alleged conduct of the principal has created an unhealthy and hostile working environment within the institution. They claimed that the repeated use of disrespectful language and behaviour had adversely affected morale and dignity at the workplace.
“Such incidents have occurred earlier as well. He often says, ‘I will give directions, I will issue orders,’ even though we are all teachers and colleagues. This kind of behaviour is completely inappropriate. Moreover, the use of abusive and offensive language has deeply hurt us,” alleged Sukanti Mohapatra, a teacher.
Faculty members stated that such actions were unbecoming of an academic administrator and had crossed acceptable professional boundaries.
