Law students urged to restore ethical outlook

"This can be done if justice delivery system can be done by developing an inner strength of morality and ethics," Patnaik said, while speaking at a seminar organised by the National Law University here.

The chief minister urged the students to give top priority to ethical values during justice delivery system. The 21st century has witnessed remarkable changes in every sphere of life due to growth in IT and judiciary in India too has benefited immensely out of it, he said.

Several branches of governance have come under public scrutiny and accordingly the delivery system too has become very responsible and accountable due to promulgation of Right to Information Act, Right to Public Services Act, Citizens` Charter, Human Rights Commission and social media, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Deepak Mishra of Supreme Court called upon the students to be innovative and come up with progressive ideas so as to make justice delivery system more sensible in its approach. "Values and ethics cannot be static as at some point of time there would be change of ideas and change of laws. Hence there should be always progress in ideas," Justice Mishra.
