Bhubaneswar: Skill development company Laurus Edutech has signed a MoU with Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) and Odisha Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Development Finance Co-operative Corporation Ltd (OSFDC) to initiate placement-linked skill development project and to provide training to poor SC & ST youth.
 
The partnership will help in creating a talent pool adept with skills and education to fulfill the employment criteria needed at this hour and bridging the wide skill gap, a press release said today.
 
The placement linked skill development training project has been implemented under the NRLM scheme of Odisha Livelihood Mission to train and provide employment for the rural BPL youth across Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Puri, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Baragarh, Jajpur and Bhubaneswar.
 
The project would provide opportunity to nearly 2000 students in order to enhance their skills.
 
Vardhman Jain, Founder Director, Laurus Edutech said, the alliance with ORMAS and OSFDC was for supporting candidates, especially from weaker sections of the society and uplifting them.
 
"There is a skill gap between work and education which needs to be filled and we are happy to do our bit,? he said.
 
On the partnership B N Das, ORMAS Executive Director, said, skilling people was the need of the hour to help reduce unemployment.
 
"This public-private partnership will certainly fulfill the growing need for skilled manpower in India across sectors and will narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills, he said.
