A late-night armed robbery in Jadupur village under Nayagarh Sadar police limits left a couple severely injured after a group of eight armed dacoits stormed their home around 2 a.m. on Monday. The gang targeted the residence of Manoranjan Patra, a local wholesale trader, and fled with valuables worth several lakhs.
Violent Break-In and Loot
According to initial reports, the armed miscreants forced their way into Patra’s house, threatening the family with sharp weapons and demanding valuables. When Manoranjan and his wife tried to resist, the assailants allegedly assaulted them brutally. The gang also attempted to attack the children present in the house, sources said.
The injured couple was rushed to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The dacoits reportedly escaped with four mobile phones, Rs 3.5 lakh in cash, about 100 grams of gold ornaments, and nearly 1.5 kilograms of silver, leaving the family shattered and terrified.
