A serious allegation has surfaced in Cuttack district’s Tangi-Choudwar block, where over 150 tribal families claim they have been deprived of the government-leased land allotted to them more than two decades ago.
Despite receiving official land pattas from the state government in 1999, the families say they continue to live on forest land, unaware of the actual location of their allotted property.
According to the affected villagers, each family had been granted 2 decimals of land under lease and has even been paying land revenue on a regular basis. However, when they attempted to locate or use their land, they discovered that it was no longer available to them.

The beneficiaries allege that their land has been taken over by unscrupulous businessmen with the help of land brokers. These middlemen, they claim, have facilitated the construction of factories and farmhouses on land that rightfully belongs to them.
Frustrated over years of neglect, the villagers have submitted written petitions to both the Tahasildar and the Cuttack District Collector, urging immediate intervention. They expressed hope that the government will finally address their plight and restore their rights over the land.
Responding to the allegations, the Cuttack Additional District Magistrate (ADM) assured that the issue will be thoroughly investigated and necessary action will be taken against those found guilty of illegal encroachment.
For the affected tribal families, who have waited over two decades, this official assurance has reignited their hopes of justice.
