According to sources, the body was recovered from the residential quarters located behind the hotel, where she had been staying. The woman was identified as Lipika Biswal (25) from Bhadrak district. The circumstances surrounding her untimely death have raised concerns, prompting a police probe.
Upon receiving information, Athagarh police reached the spot and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. Officials are examining all possible angles and have begun recording statements as part of the detailed inquiry.
“She (Lipika Biswal) had been working with me for nearly two months. She hailed from Bhadrak. She had no problems in the hotel and was on good terms with other staff. I had even talked to her last night,” the hotel owner, Ashok Kumar Bara, expressed.
“The next morning, I came to know that she had committed suicide. In the morning, another staff member knocked on her room door. As she did not open the door, the staff pushed it and found that the girl was hanging (from an iron bar of the asbestos roof),” the hotel owner said.
“She was unmarried, but her marriage was already finalised. Around 10-15 days ago, she had gone to her home by availing 4-5 days’ leave for the finalisation of her marriage. I have informed her family, and they are expected to arrive,” Ashok added.
