Lady PEO Death: BJP Mahila Morcha Launches State-Wide Stir

Jajpur: BJP Mahila Morcha today launched a state-wide stir by gheraoing collector offices across Odisha demanding CBI investigation into the death of Haridaspur Panchayat PEO Smitarani Biswal.

The women wing of the saffron party also demanded ouster of Jajpur SP for giving character remarks on the deceased PEO and Chairperson of the State Commission for Women for allegedly misusing her powers.

The BJP activists alleged that although the lady PEO was raped before murder, the State government is mum on this matter and doing nothing to safe guard women rights.

Odisha government should take a 'zero tolerance' stand on issues relating to women safety and security in the State, said the activists while demanding stern action against Pramod Sahu, president of Kendrapara Credit Co-operative Society who has been accused of work place harassment by a woman colleague.

Meanwhile, following the allegations that the main accused (Rupesh Bhadra) in the lady PEO case is getting VIP treatment in jail, Jajpur SP paid a surprise visit to the prison last night.
