Nuapada: A lady Maoist, who carried a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head, surrendered before Nuapada superintendent of police today. She has been identified as Dalmati Paharia alias Madhuri.
According to police sources, Madhuri is believed to be 15 to 16 years of age and was forcibly inducted as a cadre by the Maoists in June 2018.
Madhuri of Sinapalli area was forced to join the red rebels' camp under the Mainpur-Nuapada division by one Rajiv and Anju of the same region.
After joining the Maoists, Madhuri was trained for nearly a week at Jholaparha under Patdhara reserve forest area.
During her brief stint with the Maoists, Madhuri had met Dasru alias Kartik, the secretary of Mainpur-Nuapada division.
Senior police officials informed that as Madhuri was inducted into the Maoists fold against her will, she decided to quit owing to the discrimination and humiliation of Odia cadres by Telgu and Chhattisgarh cadres.
Besides, intensified anti-naxal operations also forced Madhuri to return to the mainstream. She will now be rehabilitated as per the surrender policy of the State government, informed sources.
