Lady doctor ‘thrashed’ by police in Keonjhar
Keonjhar: A lady Ayush doctor was allegedly thrashed by police personnel in front of Turumunga Police Station in Keonjhar today.
According to sources, the doctor was returning to her residence from hospital, when she was stopped by police in front of Turumunga Police Station during a vehicle checking.
The police allegedly stopped her despite her wearing helmet while driving, sources said.
However, when there was delay by the lady doctor in producing the vehicle documents, a woman police personnel and constable of Turumunga Police Station allegedly thrashed and misbehaved with her, sources added.
“The police personnel asked for the documents but my driving license was at my home. They started thrashing me after I denied giving them Rs 100 that they asked from me, said the complainant Sanjukta Giri.
“The woman, while being searched accepted that she did not have one of the documents. She argued with the officials after she was asked to pay necessary fine of Rs 100,” said Suresh Chandra Patra, Keonjhar DSP (Crime).
