Paralakhemundi: A lady doctor working in Mohana Community Health Centre (CHC) of Gajapati district is under scanner of the authorities as a pregnant woman has alleged her of taking bribe for treatment.

As per reports, one Philip Nayak of Jhinjiriguda village in Kandhamal district took his wife Jasanna Nayak to Mohana CHC last night after she developed some kind of gynaecological problem.

However, the lady doctor posted at the CHC allegedly suggested them to visit her home and upon arriving there she allegedly took Rs 2700 from the couple to treat Jasanna.

Receiving a complaint by locals, BDO Banshidhar Khosla visited the CHC for spot enquiry and directed the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) to furnish a report in this regard.

Manmath Mishra, an eye witness said, “Philip came to me to borrow money. When I asked about the purpose, he said that it was meant for doctor’s fee. I was with the couple when they visited the doctor.”

Talking to OTV, Gajapati CDMO Runurani Pattnaik said, “We will conduct an enquiry and appropriate action will be taken against the accused doctor if she is found guilty.”

The accused doctor however denied providing any clarification on this matter.
