In a remarkable display of commitment to grassroots governance, the District Collector on Sunday undertook a challenging trek across rugged hill terrain to personally inspect ongoing development works in a remote and inaccessible region of Koraput district.
Accompanied by senior officials, the Collector chose to walk through difficult pathways to gain a firsthand understanding of the ground realities and ensure effective implementation of government schemes.
The visit commenced at Taupadar village under Patangi Block, where the Collector reviewed a range of value-added millet products prepared by local communities. Appreciating the initiative, the Collector highlighted the importance of millet-based livelihoods in enhancing nutritional security and strengthening rural self-reliance.
Subsequently, the Collector proceeded to Kotia Panchayat, a strategically significant and geographically challenging area, to assess the progress of various developmental projects. The focus remained on monitoring infrastructure development, welfare schemes, and service delivery mechanisms to ensure benefits reach the last mile.

During the visit, the Collector interacted extensively with women members of several Self-Help Groups (SHGs), discussing their entrepreneurial activities, challenges faced on the ground, and opportunities for economic empowerment. The interaction underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening women-led initiatives in rural areas.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Jagannath Temple in Kotia, where the Collector offered prayers. Meaningful interactions were also held with students of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe School and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya. Encouraging the children to pursue their aspirations with dedication, the Collector listened to their academic goals and motivated them to strive for excellence.
The visit reflects the administration’s proactive approach toward inclusive and accountable governance in remote regions.
