BJP Member of Parliament Balabhadra Majhi on Friday demanded a CBI investigation into the murder of a Class IX tribal student at the prestigious Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar.
Raising serious concerns over the functioning of the institute, the MP also questioned the utilisation of the substantial financial assistance KISS receives from various sources. Majhi stated that the funds provided to KISS are meant to ensure the mental and physical well-being of the children residing on the campus, along with meeting their educational expenses.
However, he alleged that the living conditions of the students are far from acceptable, despite the large inflow of funds. He further said that it is essential to ascertain how the money meant for the welfare of students is being spent.

Highlighting the seriousness of the student murder case, the BJP MP reiterated his demand for a CBI probe to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation.
“The way they are getting funds from various organisations, be it foreign funding or from the government, they are definitely asking for it in the name of educating poor tribal children. It is good, they are doing a noble job, but the children should at least be treated as humans. They should be given a proper environment to become a better person. However, the students are deprived of basic dignity and kept like pigeons. So, an inquiry should be initiated to determine if all the donations collected in the name of the students are being properly used for them or used elsewhere. If needed, the CBI should take over the case so that all the truth comes out,” alleged BJP leader Balabhadra Majhi.
