Cuttack: The High Court today rejected the affidavit filed by the Khurda sub-collector on the spurious liquor tragedy and instead asked the Khurda collector to file an affidavit in the matter on February 24. The court however accepted the affidavit filed by Cuttack collector. The High Court had earlier asked the district collectors of Cuttack and Khurda to file affidavits in the matter of the spurious liquor tragedy in the two districts.
The Cuttack collector in his affidavit told the court that the district administration was taking steps to provide houses to the families of the victims under the Indira Awas Yojna.
The High Court bench also took up another contempt of court case registered in 2010. The bench asked the then excise commissioner Sudershan Nayak to file an affidavit in the contempt matter within one week.
