Teams have set up blockades and are inspecting buses and private vehicles to trace any possible illegal entry or escape routes.

Official sources said the operation was intensified following concerns that more suspected Bangladeshi infiltrators could attempt to enter or flee through the district.

Police monitoring has been increased at all strategic points as part of the heightened vigilance.

“Acting on the directives of the SP (Kendrapara Superintendent of Police) and Sadar Police Station IIC, we are carrying out a checking drive at Garapur Chhak and Duhuria Chhak. Cars and buses are being thoroughly checked,” Sadar PS Sub-Inspector, Sibaram Swain, said.

“Whoever is being suspected, we are detaining the person. We have been verifying the Aadhaar and Voter ID cards. We are also ascertaining their purpose of visit to the district and exit from the district. The drive will continue in the days ahead,” Sub-Inspector Swain stated.

Worth mentioning, the Jagatsinghpur Police carried out a large-scale midnight raid on Sunday at Beherampur slum near Tarikunda locality under Sadar police limits, detaining four suspected Bangladeshi nationals and recovering a significant quantity of weapons from them.

Sources confirmed that a country-made revolver, machetes, cutters and multiple sharp weapons were seized from a rented house allegedly constructed in the district and occupied illegally over the past four years.

The main accused, house owner Sikandar Alam alias Siku, fled the spot moments before the raid and remains absconding. Three platoons of force have been deployed as police broke open locked structures and continued searches across the settlement.

In a crackdown on illegal constructions earlier today, Jagatsinghpur district administration demolished the house of the suspected Bangladeshi national in Beherampur Basti.

The demolition drive was carried out using a bulldozer under the supervision of the local Magistrate and Sub-Collector, with a total of 10 houses razed during the operation.
