Kendrapara: Miscreants on late Monday night set fire to the Congress party office in ward number 21 of the local municipality opened on account of the ensuing local body elections. While the Congress has lodged an FIR in the town police station, the incident has created tension, especially in the political circle here.
Leaders of several political parties have started visiting the town for them prestigious local body election of one of the oldest municipalities in the state. While the Congress has alleged that the incident was the handiwork of its opponent political party, the district administration and the police are maintaining a strict vigil to avoid deterioration in law and order situation.
