Balasore: A team of Karnataka police had to face a mob fury in Tarakurunia village under Khantapada police limits of the district Thurdsday while rescuing a minor girl allegedly abducted from KG Halli area of Karnataka and brought to Balasore.

According to sources, a youth of Tarakurunia village had allegedly abducted a 15-year-old girl from KG Halli area of Karnataka where he was working as a cook. He had allegedly brought her to his own village in Soro area.

The matter came to light after the family members of the girl lodged a complaint at KG Halli police station. Investigating officials tracked the mobile location of the youth and reached Gopalpur area under Khantapada police limits. With the help of local police officials, the team followed the trail of the accused and reached Tarakurunia village.

However after coming to know about the matter, local residents detained the police officials for quite some time and barred them from entering the village. It was only after the interference of local IIC and SDPO, that the villagers relieved the cops.

As the cops were prevented from entering the village, they were unable to carry out necessary investigation neither the accused youth and the girl could be traced.

Refuting involvement in any kind of abduction, family members of the accused youth however stated that neither he nor the girl have come to the village.
