Kantabanji Lok Mahotsav celebrated with grandeur, showcasing rich folk heritage of Bolangir

The seventh edition of the Kantabanji Lok Mahotsav is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and fanfare in Bolangir, drawing large crowds and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

 The festival venue has come alive with vibrant performances of folk art forms, including traditional Dhap dance and energetic dance renditions set to Rasarkeli folk songs, captivating the audience throughout the event.

The stage witnessed colourful and lively performances by school students as well as folk artistes from within the district and from outside districts. Performers from both junior and senior groups presented impressive Ghudka dance performances, leaving the spectators mesmerised. Despite the biting winter cold, a massive turnout of people was seen at the venue, reflecting the public’s deep interest and love for folk culture.

On the second day of the festival, Ajay Das, noted folk artist and founder of the Lok Mahotsav, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said that the primary objective of organising the Lok Mahotsav is to bring forward and provide a platform to hidden and neglected folk artists, enabling them to showcase their talent and preserve traditional art forms for future generations.

The Kantabanji Lok Mahotsav continues to serve as an important cultural platform, promoting indigenous art, music and dance while fostering a sense of pride and unity among the people.

"Both the old and new artistes are participating in the seventh edition of the Kantabanji Lok Mahotsav which is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and fanfare. Local artistes are performing in the festival and thousands of people are enthralled by the show. We had never thought that so many people will enjoy the festival despite biting winter cold," said Ajay Das.
