Bhubaneswar: While addressing a gathering on the opening day of the 5-day farmers' convention Krushi Odisha-2019 in Bhubaneswar today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme will open new doors of development.

"KALIA is an ideal scheme not only for Odisha but for the entire nation. It will open new doors of development. It is the largest scheme in the State with an expenditure of Rs 10,000 cr," CM Naveen said.

While the first phase registration under KALIA scheme will end today, the second phase will begin from January 25 and continue till February 5.

CM Naveen added that KALIA scheme will benefit small farmers, sharecroppers and agricultural labourers of the State.

The 5-day Krushi Odisha-2019 inaugurated today focuses on development of a composite farming system to increase the income of small and marginal farmers and boost employment of agricultural labourers. Many farmers from across the State will also be felicitated during the programme which will continue till January 19. Earlier on January 11, the CM had unveiled the mascot for Krushi Odisha-2019.
