Junior doctors of 3 medical colleges threaten stir demanding action against VIMSAR director

Sambalpur: The Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) of 3 medical colleges in Odisha have threatened today to intensify protest if action is not taken against Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) director, Aswini Pujahari.

According to sources, the JDA of VIMSAR which is already on a cease-work stir, met the junior doctors of SCB (Cuttack) and MKCG (Berhampur) in Cuttack, who pledged to join the agitation.

At the joint meeting, the junior doctors have decided to launch cease-work if action against Pujahari is not taken within 48 hours.
The association members said that house surgeons, PG and undergraduate students of all the three medical colleges will launch cease-work.

“The enquiry committee was ordered to submit report within 10 days. However, no report has been submitted yet. The government is willingly turning a blind eye and keeping him (Pujahari) posted at VIMSAR,” said Himanshu Mishra, vice-president, VIMSAR JDA.

Pravat Kumar Rout, President of SCB Medical College & Hospital Students’ Association said “We are giving the government a 48-hour deadline to take concrete steps in this regard. Otherwise, we will also join the protest.”
