Bhubaneswar: The process for online and offline admission to Plus II courses in 1,307 junior colleges across the state will begin from May 15, the Higher Education department said in a notification on Monday.

Students will have to submit filled-up common application form (CAF) by May 30.

Sources said, junior colleges have also been asked to publish the first selection list of short-listed candidates on June 8. Candidates whose names appear in the list can take admissions between June 14 and 18.

The Higher Education department also directed the authorities of these colleges to wind up the admission process by July 8 and start classes from July 9.

For students those who have passed 10th from the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) filling up CAF online will be an advantage as they will not need to enter their individual marks in the application forms. Once a candidate enters his/her roll number in the specified space, all mark details will be uploaded automatically from the BSE database. Online filling up of CAF will not be possible for students, passing out 10th from other boards such ICSE and CBSE.

“This will remove any scope for manipulation or error while typing marks,” said Mihir Kumar Das, Officer In-charge (E-admission), Higher Education department.

To make eligible candidates aware about the online admission procedure we are sending leaflets to Board of Secondary Education. While collecting their 10th mark sheets, students will get those leaflets so that they won’t have any doubt about the process, Das added.

Sources said, unlike last time where the admission process got over in one phase, this time there will be list for first selection, second selection and spot selection.

Notably, candidates can fill up application forms for maximum ten colleges.

Last year the Directorate of Higher Education had decided to conduct admissions into junior colleges only through online mode. However, after the High Court’s intervention the department had decided to go for admissions though both the online and offline modes.
