Kalahandi: Based on Junagarh gang rape survivor’s fresh allegations that the person who had given her lift on his motorcycle is the prime culprit, police arrested the concerned accused today.

Junagarh Police arrested Lalindra Sabar after recording statements of the survivor once again under section 161 of CrPC. Later, Sabar was forwarded to the JMFC court and sent to jail.

Questioning the alleged leniency of police towards the accused, the survivor, while speaking to a few local web channels yesterday, had threatened to commit suicide if Sabar was not arrested. She also demanded death penalty for all the culprits.

Earlier, police had arrested nine persons including a minor involved in the incident.

The incident had taken place in the afternoon of September 14 near Junagarh, 25 km away from Bhawanipatna, when the miscreants gang raped the girl and later uploaded the video of the act on social media.

After a complaint was lodged on September 15, a team of cops along with a forensic team undertook spot verification and subsequently nabbed all the accused. However, the police had then released Sabar citing that though he gave lift to the survivor, he was not involved in the crime.
