Jeypore: Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation Usha Padhee, reviewed the construction work of Jeypore airstrip in Koraput district under the UDAN scheme on Sunday.

According to sources, Padhee along with Koraput collector K Sudarshan Chakraborty and Road & Housing Development department Engineer reached Jeypore and inspected the construction work of the airstrip.

“The construction of Jeypore airstrip has almost reached its final stages and licensing of the airport will be completed after an inspection is carried out by DGCA. A new bidding process is underway after the existing company showed its inability to complete the the project so their license was cancelled,” Padhee said.

The team held discussions with nodal officer of the Biju Patnaik International Airport regarding safety and security at the Jeypore airport.

The Jeypore Chamber of Commerce has been demanding for operation of flight services to Bhubaneswar, Rajmahendri, Vishakhapatnam and Hyderabad from Jeypore.
