Rayagada: The JK Paper Mills in the district which had shut down its operations following a cease work strike by contractual employees and labourers of the plant resumed its operations today.

The plant reopened after a successful tripartite meeting between the district administration, agitating workers and the plant authorities on Monday night.

Agitating labourers who had been staging dharna before the main gate of the plant over several demands decided to withdraw their strike during the meeting, informed sources.

Earlier, a similar meeting between the stakeholders had remained inconclusive.

The contractual workers’ association of the plant had been demanding fulfilment of a 14-point charter of demands including monthly salary of Rs 18,000, assurance on gradation, increment and regularisation of jobs.

The agitators had been staging an indefinite dharna since August 23 forcing the plant authorities to shut down operations of the mill.
