Jharsuguda: The much-awaited Jharsuguda airport will be inaugurated on September 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, informed Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram today.

The formal announcement came during the inspection of the airport by the Minister.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Jharsuguda airport and some other important projects like Talcher fertiliser plant during his visit to Odisha on September 22. All public representatives will be invited for the inauguration ceremony and a public meeting will also be held," Oram said.

The Jharsuguda airport has received 4-C category license and planes like Airbus-320 and Boeing 747 will operate in and out of the airport which will connect different cities across the country.

The airport has been built under the Centre’s UDAN scheme at a cost of Rs 200 crore which includes Odisha government’s share of Rs 75 crore.
