Jharsuguda: The Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni Range (DVOR) technology was made operational at Veer Surendra Sai Airport here on Monday. The DVOR technology will enhance visibility by 2,300 metres at the airport.

"This construction work of the DVOR was started in February this year followed by ground calibration and flight calibration procedures. After completion of all the procedures, the DVOR technology has been made operational," said SP Yadav, regional executive director, Airports Authority of India.

On July 23, the Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had tweeted regarding the DVOR operationalisation at the airport.

He had tweeted: "We are aware of the problems that arise in aviation operations at the Jharsuguda Airport due to visibility concerns during inclement weather. I am happy to announce that we have taken a decision to shortly install a state-of-the-art Instrument Landing System at this Airport."
