Bhadrak rural police have arrested a man impersonating as a police officer in Bhadrak on Friday.

The accused, identified as Rahul Singh Ranawat from Dhanbad in Jharkhand, was staying at a hotel in Bhadrak for several days.

As per reports, police seized police and army uniforms, a firearm, and a fake police badge from his possession during the raid. Authorities also found that the vehicle he was using had a police logo and a beacon light installed.

Local residents had grown suspicious of his activities and informed the police, who launched an investigation and apprehended the accused. The case is currently under further probe.

"Many things used by the police were seized from his (Ranawat's) possession. Police uniforms, a gun, police whistle, a beacon light used in a police vehicle, nameplate were seized from his possession. He was using uniforms of Jharkhand police, Assam police and others," said Bhadrak Additional SP Arup Abhishek Behera.

"His name is Rahul Singh Ranawat, and he is a resident of Dhanbad in Jharkhand. He was impersonating as police officer. He has been arrested. Further investigation into the case is currently underway," he added.
