Jeypore landslide: Army’s engineering team conducts blasting in stone quarry
Koraput: The district administration, despite putting into use all its resources, has failed to rescue the two labourers trapped inside the stone quarry near Bariput since more than a week.
Meanwhile, a second team of the Army engineering battalion that reached the mishap site on Thursday conducted minor blasts at the quarry to clear the debris.
The first team from Ranchi had arrived on Wednesday after efforts by ODRAF, Fire Services personnel and NDRF teams to rescue the two trapped men failed.
Meanwhile, the administration has imposed Section 144 within one km radius of the stone quarry in order to prevent any damage. The administration has also built a temporary helipad at the mishap site for easy movement of the Army personnel, reports said.
Notably on May 31, the two workers, Ghanashyam Guru and Sanjay Dash got trapped after the hill suddenly caved in while they were excavating boulders for the ongoing Telengiri Irrigation project in the district .
