Deogarh: Around 20 people were injured after a bus carrying members of a jatra troupe overturned at Dangapathar ghat under Kansar Fandi in Riamal police station limits on Monday.
The accident occurred when the Opera Western Odisha Jatra Party bus was returning after an opera performance in Dangapathara village. According to reports, the vehicle suddenly lost control on the hilly stretch, veered off the road, and overturned.
All the artists travelling in the bus sustained injuries, with some reported to be in serious condition.
Locals Rush to Rescue
Local residents immediately rushed to the accident site, rescued the injured passengers, and shifted them to the Kansar Community Health Centre for treatment. After receiving preliminary medical care, those with severe injuries were referred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Deogarh for advanced treatment.
Authorities confirmed that all injured passengers have been admitted to hospitals, and medical teams are providing necessary care.
Investigation Underway
Police from Riamal station reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus may have lost balance while negotiating the ghat road.

Officials are examining the road conditions and checking for possible mechanical issues that may have contributed to the mishap.
