Jatra controversy deepens as 'Tu Mo Bajrangi' lead heroine Tamasa Mishra faces uncertain phase

The Jatra controversy continues to simmer, with Jatra Singhabahini’s star heroine Tamasa Mishra reportedly left without stage opportunities. 

Though she remains part of the troupe and continues to receive her salary, she has not been performing on stage. In the latest production “Tu Mo Bajrangi,” the lead heroine’s role has been assigned to Pinky, leaving Tamasa without a part.

With no opportunity in the main show, Tamasa has now turned to performing in village drama productions. Her shift from the Jatra spotlight to local stages highlights the ongoing uncertainty surrounding her role within the troupe.

A Personal Tragedy That Shook Many

Not long ago, a deeply heartbreaking incident from Tamasa Mishra’s life brought harsh realities into focus. On 28th December 2025, while her two-and-a-half-year-old son was battling for life in the ICU of a private hospital in Cuttack due to a severe lung infection, Tamasa was on stage, fulfilling her professional commitment.

During the performance, devastating news arrived that her son had passed away. The child breathed his last, leaving the grieving mother shattered. Considering the tragedy, the troupe owner granted her leave on humanitarian grounds. 

However, bound by professional responsibility and being in a lead role, she returned to the stage just two days after her son’s death.

As the Jatra row continues, Tamasa Mishra’s journey reflects both professional uncertainty and personal resilience amid profound loss.
