Bhubaneswar: Around 1400 jail warders of 92 prisons across the state on Monday began fast unto death demanding hike in salary, perks and promotion avenues. According to the association the decision to work wearing black badges will continue till our demands are met.

The warders of district jail, Phulbani today launched fast unto death after staging a symbolic protest wearing black badges since November 29.

Interestingly, supporting the movement prisoners of Baliguda and G. Udayagiri jails in Kandhamal district have also joined the move.

Monday witnessed another agitation by All Odisha Lawyers' Association who started a two-day statewide court boycott protesting against the attack on lawyer Ishwar Chandra Dash in Cuttack.

The lawyers have decided not to join work opposing the continuous attacks on lawyers and government’s casual attitude in handling such cases.
