Bhubaneswar: A vigilance court here on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) secretary general Jagneswar Babu by 14 days in connection with financial irregularities during his tenure as Odisha State Co-operative Bank (OSCB) president.

According to sources, while his bail pleas in connection with two cases have already been refused, Babu will be in judicial custody for another two weeks for interrogation.

Earlier on May 1, the OJM leader was arrested by vigilance sleuths on charges of defrauding the state's largest cooperative bank to the tune of Rs 37 crore.

The State Vigilance has charged him with financial irregularities during his tenure as OSCB president when he allegedly used his official position to get loans to tune of Rs 37 crore sanctioned to Balangir-based Bijoyananda Sugar Mill of which he also was the president.
