Isolated US policies behind depreciation of world currencies: Pradhan
Bhubaneswar: The BJP-led government at the Centre is taking all possible measures to check the rising prices of petrol and diesel, said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the National Convention of Company Secretaries in Bhubaneswar, Pradhan stated that, ‘The prices of crude oil have risen considerably in the international market. Besides, due to the isolated policies of the US, there has been a depreciation of world currencies including Indian rupee against the dollar.”
Pradhan further stated that both the international factors are affecting domestic economy and the Union Government is also concerned about it.
The rupee today slumped to a fresh record low of 71 against the dollar for the first time ever by falling 26 paise on persistent demand for the US currency amid rising crude prices.
Several opposition parties including the Congress trained their guns on BJP-led government at the Centre over the rising fuel prices.
