Irresponsible Parenting: Twin incidents of kids left locked in car, house shocks Odisha

Balasore/Cuttack: Call it irresponsible or forgotten baby syndrome, two separate incidents of parents leaving their children locked inside car and house were reported from Cuttack and Balasore.

Sheer negligence of parents came to the fore after some tourists raised an alarm when they spotted a 5-year-old boy inside a parked car near Digha beach in Balasore.

As per reports, the boy’s parents, who hail from West Bengal, had gone to the sea to take a bath after locking the boy inside the car. On getting information, police reached the spot and rescued the boy by breaking the window panes of the car. As the condition of the minor boy deteriorated on account of remaining locked inside the car for a long time, he was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.

Meanwhile, police have detained the boy’s parents and further investigation in connection with the incident is on.

In another incident, a woman allegedly left her three-year-old son inside her house and went to work. The shocking incident was reported from Krushak Bazar area under Bidanasi Police limits of Cuttack. The minor boy was rescued only after locals alerted Childline members who then rushed to the spot along with police. The door of the house was pried open and the boy was rescued.
