Bhubaneswar: Academicians, researchers and experts from all over the country are expected to gather to deliberate on “tourism through peace” at an international symposium being organized by the SOA University here from February 1.

The three-day symposium is being organized by the School of Hotel Management (SHM), the faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of SOA University in collaboration with the Indian chapter of International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) and Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress (ITHC) with the theme being “Fostering Tourism for Global Peace: Opportunities and Challenges.”

“The objective of the symposium is to provide a common platform for policy makers, researchers and practitioners to express their views towards making tourism a strong medium of peace on a global scale,” Dr Sitikantha Mishra, advisor and dean of SHM, said.

The symposium would be inaugurated on February 1 by Dr Toni Atanasovski, Ambassador in India of the Republic of Macedonia.

Vice Chancellor of the SOA University, Prof Amit Banerjee would preside over the session.
