Intermediate exams begin across state

This year Council of Higher Secondary Examination (CHSE) incorporated certain measures for smooth conduct of examination.

Unlike previous years, question papers were distributed to students sharp at 10 am at the beginning of the examination. Earlier, the examinees were given test papers 15 minutes prior to the examination.

Notwithstanding minor changes, the students expressed that the question papers were not so tough to attempt.

“Questions related to grammar were easy as we had practiced the fundamentals in our matric level,” Abhilipsa Priyadarshini, an examinee of Rama Devi Women’s College said.

On the other hand, the premier body has constituted squads to check malpractice. For this, the dedicated squads inspected various colleges. In addition to this, officials from CHSE and higher education department also took stock of the situation at various institutions.

“We have formed squads under three tier system. The nodal squad centers are inspecting the colleges under them. We haven’t yet received any complaint of malpractice till now,” CHSE Chairman Nihar Ranjan Patnaik said.

The examination conducted in two sessions commenced at 10 am where Science students appeared for MIL paper in the first sitting. During the second sitting post noon, Commerce, Arts and Science students took test for Other Language.

Out of the total number of candidates, 1, 63, 047 students appeared in Arts stream, 57, 116 students appeared in Science stream, 23, 134 students appeared in Commerce stream and 7, 477 students appeared in vocational streams.

For blind and sick students, specials arrangements were made in the examination hall. This apart, provisions for drinking water facility and fans were also made in view of the rising mercury.

The examination beginning today will conclude on April 11. The final results will be declared within 45 days of the examination, the board officials informed.
