Bhubaneswar: The woman ragpicker who was injured critically in an explosion near a dump yard yesterday at Unit-8 area here succumbed to her injuries last night at a private hospital during treatment.
The 40-year old woman identified as Rashida Khatun of Mali Sahi area was collecting polythenes from dump yard while an explosive kept bag suddenly went off leaving the rag picker grievously injured.
The blast was so powerful that it tossed her to over eight feet from the ground and she was found rolling with pain, an eyewitness said.
She was rushed to Capital hospital in a critical condition where doctors referred her to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack when her condition deteriorated.
Forensic team collected the remnants from the spot to ascertain the nature of the explosive, police said adding further investigation is on.
