Infighting intensifies in BJD; MLA’s effigy burnt
Bhubaneswar: While the infighting among the senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders and also among the party cadres at grass root levels taking a toll on the party’s future, a faction of the regional party today burnt an effigy of its Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.
A faction of the BJD workers in Padmakesaripur under Kalarahanga panchayat accused the MLA of not fulfilling promises made during the last elections. They also alleged rampant percentage commissioning (PC) in the region and later burnt an effigy of the MLA.
“Development works are allotted to contractors, who are giving PC, without being concerned about the completion of the works. At a time when the State CM Naveen Patnaik is focusing on rural development, MLA Mishra is doing the opposite by allotting works to contractors who are giving higher PC,” alleged Santosh Kumar Nath, former Sarpanch of Kalarahanga.
Alleging massive irregularities in developmental works carried out in the constituency, another former Sarpanch Chagali Mahabhoi said that MLA Priyadarshi Mishra is not doing any developmental work.
“We request CM Naveen to dismiss him and protect the constituency in the very interest of the people here,” he said.
Meanwhile, the MLA was not available to comment on the allegations.
