Infighting in Congress surfaces; MLA holds meeting in garage

Bhubaneswar: Infighting in Odisha Congress has come to the fore again with Koraput MLA and Congress leader Krishna Chandra Sagaria holding meeting of the party’s SC Cell in a garage today.

As per reports, Sagaria who is the president of the SC Cell had to hold the meeting in his garage as no space was provided to him in the party headquarters – the Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The meeting was attended by members of the cell from all the districts across the State.

In the meeting, Sagaria reportedly lashed out at his party colleague and Jeypore MLA, Taraprasad Bahinipati alleging that he failed to get a space for an office in the party office building only because of the latter.

“A resolution against Bahinipati will be sent to AICC President Rahul Gandhi,” said Sagaria.

However, Bahinipati refuted the allegations and said, “I never speak anything against my party members. I am a very disciplined person. If the SC Cell has not got an office in the party headquarters, Sagaria should ask party chief Niranjan Patnaik as he the person who deals with such matter.”

“I welcome any type of resolution against me. I will put my stand before the concerned authority on being asked,” he added.

In another development, Congress MLA Prakash Behera today said that the ruling-BJD is in a position to form government in the State in 2019, adding that Congress however will give a tough fight and BJP will slip to 3rd position.

While on the other hand, former Congress MLA of Jaleswar, Jayanarayan Mohanty joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar today.
