This four-day event marks a significant occasion, as Odisha is hosting the Indian Roads Congress after several years.

The annual exhibition showcases cutting-edge technologies, construction models, and new research in road design, safety, and materials — offering the public a rare insight into India’s evolving road infrastructure.

“Public will witness the construction models and technologies which are being exhibited. The technical know-how available with them will be helpful to us when those construction models and technologies are implemented in Odisha in future,” the Minister said.

“Keeping that in mind, we have decided to keep the exhibition open for public viewing on November 10 afternoon and November 11 forenoon. We hope that everyone will take the benefit of the exhibition,” the Works Minister added.

Worth mentioning, ‘IRC Village’ locality in Bhubaneswar came into being in 1982, following the annual IRC session held in the city that year.

The area, initially an open field in Nayapalli, was developed with temporary cottages to accommodate a large number of dignitaries who had attended the conference, as the city lacked sufficient hotel accommodation at the time.

After the conference concluded, the infrastructure remained and gradually evolved into a formal residential area that is now popularly known as IRC Village.
