Excitement is building across Odisha as Barabati Stadium in Cuttack gears up to host the first T20 International between India and South Africa on December 9. Cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the high-voltage clash, and preparations at the iconic venue are nearing completion.
Ahead of the match, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Secretary Sanjay Behera visited the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Sunday, where he offered prayers and formally invited the Holy Trinity for the successful conduct of the event. As a symbolic gesture, he dedicated the first match ticket at the feet of Lord Jagannath.
Speaking to the media after the temple visit, Behera said he prayed for the smooth organisation of the match and wished for Team India’s victory. He added that the remaining minor works at Barabati Stadium would be completed within the next few days.
Behera further announced that he would meet Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today and hand over the match ticket, and the Chief Minister is expected to purchase his ticket today.
Meanwhile, online ticket sales will commence on December 1, offering fans the chance to secure their seats early. He assured that, unlike last year, there would be no lighting issues during the match, as improved arrangements have already been implemented.
With all eyes on Barabati, the cricket fever in Odisha is set to reach its peak as the countdown to December 9 begins.
