Keonjhar:  In the wake of the complaints lodged before Shah Commission, a team led by the additional-director of the enforcement squad of the state mining department has started investigation over the alleged illegal mining in non-lease areas of Sidhamatha and the Thakurani reserved forest of Keonjhar district from Wednesday.

Manoranjan Mishra, head of the investigating team said, “We have verified six places in the forests till now and found out that illegal excavation had taken place in those areas about five years ago, but did not find any fresh mining activities”.

“We found some stacks of manganese and iron ore piled up there”, Mishra added.

The investigating team which comprises officials from the mines, forest, and police department will inspect 31 places of the district and will submit report to the government.
