Illegal mining: 6 leaseholders depose before Keonjhar District Magistrate Court
Keonjhar: Six mining leaseholders deposed before the Keonjhar District Magistrate Court today in connection with illegal mining operations in the State.
It is to be noted that the Supreme Court issued directive to collect penalty of Rs 6,350 crore from 23 mining leaseholders of 31 mines in the state. In this regard, a certificate case was filed in the Keonjhar District Magistrate Court for confiscation of property of these errant mining leaseholders.
Six mining lease holders out of nine scheduled to appear before the Magistrate Court, deposed today, informed sources.
Keonjhar district collector, Ashish Thakare said “In one case, recovery will be done. Moreover, arguments in other cases were heard. We have sent reminders for property lists from other districts.”
The next hearings of the case are scheduled for January 5 and 19 next year.
