Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police today busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit in Khurdha and seized eight country made guns and live bullets.

The police also arrested four persons allegedly involved in the illegal gun trading activities. The quick action team of police conducted the raid in Khurdha area, sources said.

The illegal factory was running for last 20 years at Panichhatra village under Jankia police station. Police got the clues from two accused arrested yesterday during interrogation and raided the place.

This apart, fire-arm making implements like iron press, grinding stones, iron pipes and iron brushes, cutter blades, hammers, tongs and a wrench were also seized during the raid.

Police commissioner RP Sharma said the arms manufacturers sell a single shot gun for Rs 5000 to Rs 7000 and six-shot revolvers at Rs 10,000 in Khordha district.

Investigation is on to verify how many pieces of illegal arms have been manufactured and sold since the inception of the manufacturing unit and the antecedents of the accused,he added.
