Puri: Clicking selfie with a murder accused cost dearly to the inspector-in-charge of Chandrabhaga Marine Police Station, Bulu Munda as he was suspended on Tuesday after the photograph went viral on social media. Earlier, Mundu was transferred to the district police headquarters.

As per senior officials, Mundu will be placed under suspension with immediate effect for his serious misconduct during process of arrest and escort of prime accused in a case.

Earlier, the transfer order was issued by Superintendent of Police (SP) Umashankar Das after Munda's selfie with murder accused Radha Mohan Biswal alias Munna went viral on social media.

According to sources, Munna was the prime accused in connection with the murder of a youth at Alasahi under Astaranga Police limits and was absconding after committing the crime. Later, Chandrabhaga Marine Police had nabbed him on Monday.

After his arrest, Munna was being taken to Nimapara Police station when Chandrabhaga IIC purportedly clicked a selfie with him inside the police van.

In the viral picture, the accused was seen wearing glasses while the IIC was clicking the selfie. Besides, the accused was taken to the police station without handcuffs.

After the picture went viral, the SP had assured that action would be taken against the IIC.

Notably, on October 5, a youth, Dillip Swain was hacked to death in front of his father at Alasahi village. While three persons were earlier arrested in connection with the incident, Munna was the prime accused.
