Bhubaneswar: The state government on Saturday effected the much awaited bureaucratic reshuffle. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik gave approval for the appointment of senior IAS officer Jugal Kishore Mohapatra as the new Chief Secretary. Mohapatra will replace B K Patnaik who is retiring from the post on July 30. 

Mohapatra, a 1979 batch IAS officer, is expected to take up the new assignment on July 1.

The state government also approved the promotion of four senior IAS officers to chief secretary level. While 1983 batch IAS Aditya Prasad Padhee has been appointed as additional chief secretary to Chief Minister, IAS Injeti Srinivas has been given charge of Development Commissioner. Similarly, 1983 batch IAS U N Behera, who is currently the Secretary (Home), will get additional charge of additional chief secretary (Finance). Senior IAS Tara Dutta will be Chief Administrator (KBK).

As part of the reshuffle, Ashok Tripathy will be the new director general of Gopabandhu Academy of Administration whereas S P Thakur will hold charge of Principal Secretary (Tourism).

Santosh Sarangi, who is currently the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (ST & SC Development), will get additional charge of Culture department.

Meanwhile, outgoing chief secretary B K Patnaik has been appointed as Chairman of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).
