Bhubaneswar: A day after being attacked by unidentified miscreants, senior IAS officer and Mines department’s additional secretary Batakrushna Dehury today moved Commissionerate Police seeking adequate police protection.

As per reports, two bike-borne miscreants attacked the IAS officer when he was returning home in Unit-6 area under Capital Police limits yesterday. In the attack, Dehury sustained critical injuries on his leg.

“I was returning home from my office when a masked youth attacked me with a lathi yesterday. Before I could realise what was happening, the attacker tried to beat me up again. Only after I raised an alarm, the attacker along with his associate fled the spot,” said Dehury.

“The incident occurred near my house. I want the attackers should be arrested as this raises question on the safety of government employees. How can they work without security,” questioned Dehury.

After receiving information, police reached the spot and launched an investigation.

“We have asked the IAS officer on various aspects including past enmity. He has provided some information and we are investigating the matter based on his statements,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo.
